Gua Sha
Gua Sha is a therapeutic procedure in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in which the skin is treated with a smooth instrument, often made of jade, horn, or plastic, through controlled, repetitive mechanical stimulation. This mechanical stimulation increases local blood circulation, releases stagnation of Qi and blood, and stimulates metabolism.
The aim of the treatment is to release blockages in the energy pathways (meridians), reduce inflammation, and promote the body's own regenerative processes. Gua Sha is frequently used for muscle tension, pain, cold symptoms, and chronic conditions.
Scientific studies suggest that Gua Sha has anti-inflammatory effects and improves microcirculation, which contributes to pain relief and faster healing.
