Lifestyle

Spring is the season of movement and “going outward.” From a TCM perspective, regular physical activity supports the smooth flow of Liver Qi and helps prevent stagnation. Activities such as walking in nature, light jogging, yoga, Qi Gong, or Tai Chi are particularly beneficial. On an emotional level, it is important not to suppress tension but to allow space for it and keep it in motion. The Liver is closely connected to our ability to process emotions flexibly. Mindfulness, conscious pauses, and stress-reducing practices help release inner tension and maintain balance. In the Taoist tradition - such as in the teachings of Sun Simiao - it is emphasized that living in harmony with nature, together with a calm and clear mind, forms the foundation of health. Health arises when body, mind, and environment resonate in natural rhythm. It is also important to protect the body from sudden cold in spring, as the weather can be unpredictable. Keeping the neck and upper back warm helps support the defensive Qi (Wei Qi).
